Home Update // DIY // Upgrade
Back around the first of May our washing machine decided to stop kicking into the spin cycle. Which I'm sure all of you know, the spin cycle is a very important part of the washing process.
We immediately started looking on the trade sites to try and find a replacement. But theres no way we could just not wash our clothes while we were waiting to find another one. And since I refused to spend money at a laundry mat. I created the "Dip and Dump" system 🤣
The Dip and Dump consisted of wringing the clothes out by hand. Then, dipping the water out of the washer into a large bowl, and dumping it into the sink! 🙄 It was definitely a chore, but it sure helped my kids understand why they shouldn't throw clean clothes in the dirty clothes basket!
After being hustled several times on the swap shops, we decided to just go look at Lowe's to see what they had to offer. At the time they were having the Memorial Day Sale. So we found a white front loader set for a good price! ($1,000) They had the washer in-store, but had to order the dryer from their warehouse. Which we were totally fine with.
After we got the washer unloaded and hooked up, Lowe's called to say that they had discontinued that dryer, but wanted to offer us an UPGRADED model for the same price!! 🤩 We were like, pssh yeah! Lol So after some back and forth phone calls and a trip to the store, we ended up with not only a newer model, but a better brand of appliance! ($2,500) AND they were red, which I have been wanting for forever!! 🤗
Since we were getting a brand new NICE washer and dryer, I decided to put more attention into our laundry room. I have wanted a folding table for years, but there was never room in our old house. However, there was just enough space in our new home for one. So I went back to Lowe's to look for a cheap, basic cabinet that I could add a solid surface to. I looked through all of the standard stock cabinets, and found one with 2 doors and a large drawer. It was $150, and that's not what I was looking to spend. But I took a picture and sent it to Stephen to get his thoughts. As soon as I turned the corner there was the EXACT SAME cabinet but marked down to $99, because it had a broke bracket on the back corner. I tracked down an employee and told him what my plans were, and if this was an easy fix. He assured me that all I would need was a drill to reattach the bracket. So I bought the slightly damaged cabinet.
Stephen had to pick it up that night, because it wouldn't fit in my SUV. He pulled it out if his truck and there wasnt one thing wrong with the cabinet 😳 I said, "Stephen, this is not the cabinet that I bought. I bought the broke one." He said, "it had your name on it, so I grabbed it!" So again we got an UPGRADE!
The next Wednesday night we ran into Robbie and Nola at Chick-fil-A, (they are on the leadership team at our church). We were telling them about how God has just upgraded this whole ordeal. I then went on to tell them about how I needed to find some type of solid surface to put on the cabinet. Robbie then says, "what about butcher block? I have some leftover from our remodel. Yall can HAVE it." 😂😂😂 Say it with me, UPGRADE!!! Lol Come on God!!
The moral of the story is not to brag, but to encourage you to PAY YOUR TITHES!!!! And be faithful with it. God is a good father. You take care of the Church, and He will take care of you! So I encourage you to come into a relationship with Him. Pastor Glanis Crane would always say, "theres no regrets in jesus!" And she is absolutely right, and that's how we live our lives!
