Home Office Makeover
TODAYYYYYY I'm finally ready to share another room in my house, that has been completely re-did!! 😃 And that would be our home office!! This was actually one of the rooms that didn't get much attention until about 8 months ago, making it one of the last rooms to be finished.
This room was covered in wallpaper... and not the pretty kind.... The room was extremely dark from not just the wallpaper, but also the huge bulky valances and curtains that use to hang in this space. Below are a few of the before pics.
This room actually took a little longer to finish than I had expected. First, because of the built-ins. After sanding them down, it took a good 4 coats of paint to get them completely white. And then second because I tried to take the easy route and paint over the wallpaper... THAT ONE came back to bite me on the behind!....
My mom would come in and stay a couple nights here or there to help us work on this space. I've never been more grateful to have a mom who knows how to use a hopper!!😅 Throughout our house, she literally saved us thousands of dolla dollas 🤑
Anyways, we stripped the wallpaper using a spay water bottle and a putting knife. I'm pretty sure I said, "ugh... this is so stupid" about a hundred-thousand times!! We scraped the ceiling, and then spray textured.
Once the hard part was over, I was able to paint AGAIN... It wasn't long after we finished the walls in here, that our floors were installed. So the timing was perfect with that! I went with Summer Gray from Valspar. I'm really loving the white on white, especially with the darker more traditional flooring. I could not be more pleased with this room.
I knew I wanted the design to be a little more on the modern side. Slightly different than the rest of the house, but not too different. So I went with black curtains and a few "glam" pieces. Now, the desk and chair are not meant for this room, the desk goes in Lillian's room, and the chair goes in another room as well. I am just having a hard time finding something that I LOVE that doesn't cost a small fortune.
The curtains & curtain rods AND the 3 pics were all bought from Ross!! The other print is from Mapiful. I worked on a campaign with them last spring and they gifted me with a print of mine and Stephen's wedding anniversary!!🤗 I COULD NOT believe that i found that trunk at Salvation Army last weekend. As soon as I saw it I was like, "yep, you're coming home with me!!" I do want to get a stand for it, but like my other trunk in our livingroom, I can't find one that I like. (Story of my life🤷🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️)
