Trust The Process // Health And Wellness

Hey y'all!! As most of you know, I have started a new adventure. For the past few months, I've been really focusing on toning up my muscles. And I have shared a little here or there on my progress. As of last Saturday, I've been going to the gym regularly for 3 months, and I wanted to update you on how it's going. Not only what I'm doing while I'm there, but also what I do when im not there.

First off, my why! My why is no more than shallow reasoning! 😂 Y'all know, I'm pretty transparent when it comes to sharing my life with you. I don't ever want to come across as being fake in any manner. So, like I said, I started going to the gym for shallow reasons. This past summer I found myself not posting certain pics on social media simply because of my arms....🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ I would see a photo while wearing a tank top and instantly delete it. I hated how my arms looked, so that's why I started this new journey.

For the most part I have always been a smaller person. Even after having 3 babies, I was able to bounce back rather quickly. EllyKay, my youngest, was probably the most difficult baby to lose weight with. Then again I was 28, and we ladies all know, the older you get, the harder it is to lose weight. After having her I started going to a fitness bootcamp and Zumba class with my mother in-law. I'm a dancer at heart, so I ended up getting a Zumba Fitness License and even had my own class for a couple of years.

So for me to go into a gym and do muscle training has been a challenge to say the least. All I wanted to do was go in, a do some curls and boom I'd have the nice slim toned arms. However, that's not what happened at all. 😩 Once I started going with Stephen, I figured out quick that I can't lift a lot of weight, like at all. I struggled with bench pressing the bar. I could bench press the free weights without having Stephen right there, with the fear of one smashing into my face... So basically I had to start from ground zero.

I had to do little things to help build up strength in my wrists, because they were extremely weak. I had to start out benching the 5lb free weights, to help my stabilizers, because they would literally be so wobbly. Also I found out that, if I work just on my arms it would take longer to see results. Unfortunately, i had to work on other muscle groups, so that all of my muscles would work together in unison, which would ultimately lead to me having the nice, slim, toned arms that I want in my photos!!🤣

Since I am fortunate enough to not have to have a job outside the home, I am able to go to the gym while my kiddos are at school. When I go to the gym by myself, I only do cardio, because sweat is fat leaving the body!! (And because I'm not comfortable doing weight training without Stephen being there)😉 Then about 3 or 4 nights a week I'll meet Stephen after he gets off work. And I basically do whatever he does, only with a lower weight.

While I'm not at the gym, I really try to eat as good as I can, but let's face it, I love food, I love to snack, and I'm not skipping on pizza night!🤷🏼‍♀️  I wrote a blog post last year talking about how I maintain my weight, you can read it here, if you wanna see some healthier options when snacking. I'm also one who tries fat burners as often as I try new skincare products. I have a protein shake everyday, whether its store bought or made here at home. I do a cleanse every month after my cycle runs its course. I've also been known to use cellulite creams, balms, and gels under a sauna vest! (SWEATING IS SOOOO IMPORTANT!!) Here recently I tried a new fasting system for 5 days, I documented it daily on my stories. If you wanna lose a couple pounds in a week? Try doing a fast!

After working out for 3 months, I have maintained my weight. However I am slimming down, my muscles are becoming more defined, and my clothes are fitting better. So why are you still the same weight?? Because fat takes up more space in your body, than muscle. From the moment you start working out, major transformations are going down in your body. Once you start gaining muscle, your body will quite literally burn fat in your sleep.

Ladies, the best advice that I can give you is to document everything. Take photos and measurements before hand, then do it regularly once a month. Keep note of the supplements that work best for you. (Not everything works for everyone.) Even when you're not seeing the results, trust the process! Bye ladies, I hope this has helped and encouraged someone today!!!  I will link some of my favorite supplements below, for those who may be interested!!
