How To: Make Your Home More Inviting / Lazy Girl Style

Hey Fam, Happy Friday!!🎉 If you've been around here for a while, then you'll know that we have been working hard on updating our 1979 home! I really enjoy sharing things about our home and I've noticed that my "Home" posts, draw a lot of attention from you guys!! (Which makes me very happy btw! 😉) So today I wanted to share a few simple things that we do,  on a daily basis, to make our home feel more inviting.

Now I'm not saying that I'm the pinnacle of cleanliness, because I can promise you if there's laundry that needs to be done and my kids want to play Uno, I'm playing Uno too! 🤷🏼‍♀️ I mean, it is what it is... So with that being said, there are some things that I try to stay on top of. That way if we have someone call to say they're coming for a visit and they'll be here in 20 minutes, I'll know that I won't have to worry about these few things, because they're already done. So I'll be able to use those few minutes to tackle the other things that may need more attention.

1. Open the curtains and / or blinds to allow natural light inside your home. We keep all of our curtains open at all times, and only close the blinds before we call it a night. I've been doing this for years, so along with putting the coffee on in the mornings, I go though and open the binds! EVERY MORNING!!! 😅

2. Vacuum daily, especially if you have kids and / or pets. We have3 kids and 2 inside dogs who both shed, so we literally have to vacuum every single day!! Thank the Lord for our Roomba!! 😂 If anything ever happens to her, I will get another to replace her!! I've actually considered getting a 2nd one for the other end of the house, but I'm not sure if Stephen would like that. 🤑 Not only does vacuuming make your home look nicer, it helps it smell better too. Which leads me to the next tip....

3. Make your home smell beautiful everyday! I know I've mentioned this several times before, but I love to keep fresh cut flowers in our home. I started doing this about 7 years ago. They leave a subtle lovely light scent that you'll get a wiff of when you walk passed them. As of recent, like maybe a year ago, I started to burn candles regularly. Our main go to for smell goods, are the Air Wick plug-ins. We have at least 1 in every room in the house. With us having 2 inside dogs, it's so important to us to keep refills in stock. You can also use essential oils if that's your thing. I tried them, but they don't give the same effect as a candle... Changing your air filters regularly will also help with keeping your home smelling nice and fresh, (which is probably 1 thing that we don't do as often as we should...😳)

4. Quick bathroom clean-up, like the laziest quick clean-up EVERRRR.... I like to keep the Lysol wipes handy. (**With Rona runnin rampant, it's kinda hard to keep them in stock...**). However, I use those wipes for everything. I will carry the container around and just wipe down stuff. They're so easy to use, and then toss in the trash. They're great for your toilets and countertops. So try to keep lysol wipes in every bathroom. Also, keeping the trash emptied as often as possible, really helps. Personally I love the blue tablets that you put in your toilet tank. By using them I don't have to actually clean the bowl as often because its already taken care of!

5. Make your bed everyday! This is something that im just anal about!! 😂 I actually hate that i wake up before Stephen, because i can't make my side of the bed til he gets up. And he sholllll ain't gonna make his side!! Lol My theory is, if your room is spotless, but the bed is messy, your room still feels dirty. However, if there's some clothes or shoes in the floor and a glass sitting on the nightstand, and maybe even some papers or receipts on the dresser, but your bed is made, it feels cleaner than the other way around. (Does that make sense at all??😅)

6. Try not to have so much "stuff". Have you ever been to someone's house that's cram packed with stuff?... it's kinda intimidating and can be over stimulating for your brain! Lol Personally I do not like a lot of stuff in my house. Growing up, my mom had several curio cabinets that held loads of breakable stuff, that ultimately I got the pleasure of dusting... so that's probably why I don't want a bunch of things in my home, because I know that I'll be the one that has to keep it clean!🤣 Seriously though, if you keep your home clutter free then it'll feel lighter, more airy, and more inviting!

That's all for today! What are some things that you implement into your daily life, that will make your home not only feel cleaner or more tidy, but will also make it feel more inviting?
