Style Diary // How To Style A Yellow Skirt
If you have been following me for any length of time, or if you've had a good look through my Instagram feed, then you'd notice pretty quick that I wear A LOT of black.🖤 I dont know why I'm drawn to black as much as I am, but I am. 😎 Last year I tried my best to incorporate more whites into my collection. At the first of this year I made up my mind that I was going to be very intentional with adding more color into my wardrobe.
A few weeks ago I found myself in Cato's, (🙄surprise surprise🤣), Anyway, among all the grays that I had accumulated while walking around, I found this mustard yellow skirt on the clearance rack. I pushed passed it, and kept looking. Because, "a mustard skirt?? That wouldn't look good on me🤔💬". But I found myself going back to it, just to check the price on the tag. It was only $12, and it was in my size. I thought, "well, I can always take it back".
Once I got home, I still wasn't completely sold on this yellow skirt, so it sat in the bag for a couple days before I even tried it on. After moving this shopping bag around in my closet, just to get it out of my way, I decided to try it on. Then I had to pilfer through everything, just to try and draw some type of inspiration. And much to my surprise I ended up being able to pair it with several of the items from my collection. And at that point I realized how important it is to have staple, neutral basics. If my closet was full of multi colored clothes, then I wouldn't have been able to style this $12 clearance, mustard yellow, statement skirt.
I was able to pair it with all the blacks, whites, denim, and even a few neutral prints. I won't go into detail about each outfit, I'll let the outfits do the talking! This is actually where I'm going to leave you. I hope I have encouraged you to step outside the box and try something new or different. The best thing about fashion is that you can do what you want with it. Mix and match, be creative. Don't forget to tag me in your fashion creations, or use #krystalblogs
