Travel Diary // Daytona Beach // Disney

As some of you know, we did Christmas a little different this past year, and so I thought I'd tell you about it. Plus yall know I love documenting our trips and sharing our experiences with you. And per usual, these are pretty lengthy, so grab a snack! 🍿

Tuesday

On Christmas morning we had full intentions of leaving at like 7am, but we ended up not leaving til closer to 9am. I mean, would I really be me if we weren't running late?! 🙄.. Considering it was Christmas day, most restaurants were closed, so we had to Google what was open. We found ourselves at Friday's, in Tallahassee, which turned out to be really good! I got the Cajun Shrimp Linguine, and as Chandler Bing would say, "it was AHMazing!" 😉  Stephen went for a steak.

Made it to the condo around 5pm. Hung out with Stephens family; got to meet his brothers new girlfriend 😃 ya know, fun times! 😉 Now, yall know we CANNOT go anywhere without something happening right?! On our way to dinner, my car was rear ended... 🤨 first day of vacay... Christmas day... a girl rammed right in the back of us... 🙄... THANKFULLY no one was hurt and it wasn't too bad! It was just an inconvenience. Anyway, we made it to dinner, we had Chinese food for dinner. And I'm pretty sure I ate more than I should've!!

Wednesday

I know that we live close to Destin, and can quite literally go to the beach whenever we want, but waking up to the sound of the ocean is a whole different story. We got to sit on the balcony and sip our coffee, it was incredible!

We all went down to the Boardwalk to find a good place for lunch. We found ourselves at a place called Sloppy Joe's. They are obviously known for their sloppy joe sandwiches. However, I dont like sloppy joe's, so I opted for the Mahi Mahi, it was cooked perfectly!👍🏻😋👍🏻 Stephen got the Flounder and said it was really good as well!!

After lunch we walked around the boardwalk, just checking out the shops. Most everything was way overpriced, then again we were in a touristy area, so that was expected. I think the only thing we bought was a pair of sunglasses for Stephen.

We left the boardwalk to go find a bag that I needed for some content that I was going to shoot while I was there. (Back story, I found a bag that I really liked the week before but talked myself out of it) So we made our way over to the Tanger Outlets in search of a bag. While we were walking around I saw that they had a Kate Spade store, so I went in just to look. When the sales girl asked if she could help with anything, i then showed her how my backpack was coming apart, and told her how i had just gotten it the previous Christmas, and was wondering if there was a way that I could have it repaired somehow. *long story short* They REPLACED my backpack right there! I was so shocked I almost cried! 😍 From that point on, I was seriously in the best mood ever!!

Later that evening we met back up with the others and just spent time with family.

Thursday

On Thursday we went to Disney World!! 😃 I think I was expecting it to not be as busy as it was because it was Christmas time, but I was WRONG!! 😂 Holy Moly, that place was crazy packed. I'm pretty sure we were only able to get on 5 rides in total. Each line was like a 2 hour wait. And apparently I wore the wrong sneaks, because my feet were literally about to fall off. BUT the kiddos loved it! Which is a good thing since that was their Christmas gift! 🎁 However, I do think that my favorite part of the day was eating dinner at On The Boarder!! 😋 We have not had OTB since we moved to Florida last year.

Friday

Considering that we didnt get back to the condo til after midnight,  we slept in Friday morning! The whole day was pretty lazy actually, which was nice. The weather was so wonderful, I think it was in the mid 70's, so we were able to hangout by the pool, that was heated; the kids went swimming. We walked down to the beach; the water was freezing!! 😂 They barely let the water touch their toes! 🤣

That afternoon,  Stephen parents watched the kiddos for about an hour so that we could go shoot some content down on the boardwalk. While we were there, this man was trying to hustle us! After he told us 3 different stories as to why he was asking for money, we told him that we don't carry cash, and then he proceeded to cuss us as he was walking away!! So there was that fun adventure.  At least in New Orleans they try to hustle you by providing some type of service  like "Dan Dan the Shoe Cleaning Man!!" 🤣 You can check that one out here!! And that was also our cue to leave.

Afterwards we met up with the family for our past meal together.  We went to Martin's for dinner. I was really wanting some good fried catfish and fries, but they didn't have it on the menu... 😭 So I went with their Blackend Mahi Mahi. It was good, but ya know when you have a taste for one thing, the other choice just isnt as good as it probably could have been?! Anyway, first world problems I know! 🙄..

We knew that we had a lot of packing and getting stuff ready to head back home the next day, so we didn't hang with the family that night, although we probably should have since we only see Stephen's brother like once every 5 years or so. As we were gathering things, Stephen mentioned the idea of extending out trip to Miami! Which of course I'm over here like, heck yeah!! 😃 He still had 3 more days left of his "vacation time" so we pulled up Google Maps to see what kind of timeline we could put together. We went to sleep with the thought of possibly extending our trip!

Saturday

As the Saturday sun came up we enjoyed our last cup of coffee on the balcony.  Checkout was at 10a.m. so we loaded up my car and decided to head on home. We decided that Miami/ Keys needed it's own vacation so that it wouldn't feel rushed. On our way out we grabbed a coffee and hit the road!

As we made our way back through Tallahassee, we stopped in at one of our favorite restaurants, Spear It, and had lunch. Our first time eating there was back in September when we came in for the Simanoles opening game. I had honey glazed salmon with mashed potatoes. I know it sounds totally strange, but it's such a great flavor combo!! (I should be a food critic!!)  And then that was it. When we got into town, we picked up Rocko from the dog hotel, went home, unpacked, and then everything went back to normal... well, kinda.. 🤣

And that's enough rambling for today! I hope yall have enjoyed reading about our travels and experiences. Byyeeee!!! 👋🏻
