Travel Diary // Carnival Cruise // Bahamas

As most of you know, my husband and I just celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary last week. And considering that 10 years is a pretty big milestone, we decided to celebrate with a 5 day cruise to the Bahamas! You guys already know that I LOVE blogging about our trips and sharing our experiences and photos from all the different places that we visit. So I decided to add this one to the list!! (If you'd like to see more blog posts from our travels click the following links! (New Orleans, LA./ TX./ AR., Daytona / Disney,) Just like the others, I broke it down day by day.

- Friday -

We loaded up last Friday, and headed towards Jacksonville. The ship didn't depart til Saturday so we were in no rush to get there. We had to stop in Tallahassee for lunch, and if you've been following me for a lengthy amount of time, then you'll know that we love eating at Spear It! They have amazing food. Everything that I've tried there is phenomenal, highly recommend you trying it out if you're ever in the area!

We made it to Jacksonville around 3 or 4. We checked into the Marriott hotel, then went down to the St. John's Towncenter to do a little shopping! One of the first stores I went in was a Louis Vuitton store and OMG!!! 😻 I was at the gates of luxury heaven!! I told Stephen that I just wanted to go in and touch all the things!! 😂 I tried on some sunglasses, got to hold the bags to see how they look on me, and pilfered through the wallets. The sales lady was so nice. She was blown away at my knowledge of the brand. And then of course I had to get a pic for the gram!! 😎

Once reality set in, we made our way to the Gap!!😂😂 Tried on a few suits, that didn't suit me at all! 😉 Stephen was able to find a couple outfits, so it wasn't a total waste. The sales guy actually recommended that we try Chuy's for dinner. So that's where we went!! We were so glad that we tried it out. Ow man, it was awesome! If you've never been, it's a Tex-Mex restaurant with a 50's diner twist. They brought out this spicy ranch dip that blew my mind!👌🏻 Stephen and I got the fajit's for two, they too were really good!

- Saturday -

Checkout was at noon, and we didn't have to be on the ship til 1:30, so we were able to sleep in, leisurely get dressed, and make a Starbucks run! ☕ Once we made it to the ship 🚢 there were already a ton of people there. The process to get on board went by a lot quicker than I had anticipated. With this being our first time on a cruise we really had no clue of what to expect.

When we got on board, our rooms were not ready, so we just wondered around trying to get a feel for the layout. We left the port around 5. We had dinner at the deli. I had a turkey and cheese wrap, Stephen went with a hot sub sandwich. We sat on the balcony and watched the sunset on the Atlantic!

- Sunday -

Sunday was a Day at Sea, so it was very laid back. We went to the Sea Day Brunch, where I was able to channel my inner Carrie Bradshaw by enjoying mimosas🥂 with my steak and eggs!.. I know right?.. very boujie!! Lol Seriously though, the steak was perfection!

After brunch, we went to the top deck to layout and catch some sun. Like I said very laid back. The cell service was terrible, even with the wifi package, so the time moved even slower. We had a late lunch, then took a nap! Lol The sun just drains my energy so fast, so we literally slept for like 2 hours. This particular night was the "formal" night. So we got to get all snazzy 'd up for dinner. After that we made our way the comedy club. Tash was ok, not the best standup bit, but she got a few giggles out of me!

- Monday -

Monday was the day that we were going to port at Nassau, so we got up pretty early so that we wouldn't miss the fairy. We had omelets and fresh fruit for breakfast. Then loaded up to head to Nassau. Once we got to the island I was so disappointed with the beach there. The water was nice, but the actual beach itself had rocks and sticks everywhere. I would not recommend Nassau to anyone. If you want a beautiful white sand beach, go to Destin, Florida!!

We had a couple excursions planned. The first one was interacting with stingrays.... and omgeeeee.... I am NOT good with wildlife. I touched one, and it grossed me out so bad. They were like "you wanna feed it?", and I was like, NOPE!! They wouldn't allow me to take pictures of them. Which, you would think that as much as you're paying, a picture should be included in that price!🙄... However, it was very informative. The second excursion was going out in kayaks. I've always been into water type things, so I was really excited about them. There were 2 guys that were over this particular activity, and they seemed to be new at leading people. They took us a little ways out, then stopped at a different little island, and had us get out of the kayaks. (Which is where the messed up). Then said, "ok let's collect rocks and stack them up!" 🙄... ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME??!!!!..... Needless to say, we left the group and kayaked back to the main island. We checked out their cabanas and little shops; had some lunch, and just chilled for the remainder of our time there. When we got back to the ship, we went to the room to clean up and get changed. And went walking around the ship. Then had dinner.

- Tuesday -

Tuesday was Half Moon Cay 🏝 day!! And this island is what we were expecting from the Bahamas! It was gorgeous there!! We made sure to pass up all the chairs they had out, and go where there were no people!! It was so peaceful laying out ⛱there, we actually fell asleep!! Carnival catered lunch, which was so good as expected!

We had such a good time at Half Moon Cay. It was such a chill day!! ☀️ Once we got back to the ship, got cleaned up and found some grub! The Guys Burger's was EPIC!!! Hands down, the best burgers on the ship!

- Wednesday -

Wednesday was another Day at Sea, so we got to enjoy another Sea Day Brunch! We took advantage of our last day by taking product pics for Instagram and a blog post that's coming up here shortly, but we mostly layed out by the pool all day. The cruise director had people playing games and was just really working the crowd.

With it being our last night on board, we got dressed up again for our last dinner and show. Stephen surprised me with a new bag for an anniversary gift! 😻 ItsI one that I had been eyeing since the day we got on the ship!! It's a black with gold hardware Valentino bag. I was trying to tell him how this one is very similar to the style of the Chanel Boy Bag, only this one isn't $5,000!!

- Thursday -

Thursday was the most chaotic day of them all. We knew that we wanted to do the express deportation, so that we could head on home. Well, their idea of "express" was not express at all. It took about 2 hours from the time they called our deck til we made it to the parking lot. So after all the relaxing time on board, you get stressed out right before you go home... We made it back home around 2ish.

OVERALL, we had a fantastic time on the Carnival Cruise. We would definitely do it again. Maybe next time go somewhere different. The food was exceptionally good. The service was top notch! All the staff on board were so kind and attentive to you. They remembered you by name, and would always connect you to the previous experience that they had with you! How many of you have been on a cruise? Which one did you go on? What are some other awesome places to visit?? I hope y'all enjoyed reading about our experience with Carnival Cruise!
