What's Really Killing Your Spirit // Encouragement

The other day I captioned an IG photo "Fall is a good reminder that it's ok to let things go". As I was typing that out, I was like WOW God, how true is that? It's in our human nature to hold on to things from the past. Don't get me wrong, some "things" are wonderful memories, that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about that incident that happened 10, 20, 30 years ago. That cross word that someone said to you, that offended you, and you're carrying it around in your purse, It's time to let it go!! You're out here walkin around with a chip on your shoulder, that's not safe for anyone, it's time to let it go.

Child of God, I am here to encourage you. I have partnered with Holy Spirit and The Good Book, to help you remember who you are, and whose you are. We have put together a few ways to help you let go, and let God! All references can be found in the Bible, go check if you don't believe me.

First off, you have got to pray. If your spirit-man is in the spirit realm, then you need to be praying  in the Spirit. If you're not praying in the spirit, then your spirit-man will dry up and die. To be completely honest, if you were already praying in the spirit then offense wouldn't have had a chance in hell, at setting up shop in your heart, but God said....

Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.
Ephesians 4:3

Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.
Ephesians 6:18

Now we have to tackle offense, because that's the real reason that you have held on to this crap for so long.  Harboring offenses in your heart is the quickest way to suffocate your spirit-man.  And let's not forget that you cannot put a face on evil. Our humanly nature automatically attaches that person's face to the evil that was done against us, but God said....

For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 6:12

After praying in the Spirit and riding ourselves of offense, we can now apply grace and mercy and truly move forward. Starting with forgiving yourself for holding on to whatever it was that you've been holding on to. Even if you're not physically able to tell the other person "I forgive you",  God knows your heart . I'm telling you today, if you don't let it go, it will quite literally kill your spirit man.

We all make mistakes, we all fall short of the Glory of God, but He loves us anyway. He loves us even in our garbage, and He will love us through it, because that's who He is. He is the God of Love!
