Best Ways To Organize / Upgrade Your Closet
This past Wednesday I posted my Closet Makeover video on my YouTube channel. After the post was uploaded, I noticed that I COMPLETELY FORGOT to add in a few other video clips...🤦🏼♀️ And at that point it was kinda too late to go in and add those few clips in. So I thought I would just put them here. Besides it will give me a chance to actually get my thoughts out fully without being distracted by random things!😅
If you watched the video, you may have noticed that I did have an organized system in place. Now I am very aware that not everyone has a large walk-in closet, but I feel that these tips can be used in all sized closets.
1. Brighten it up! By painting the inside walls and shelves white, it will brighten up a normally dark space. Also, daylight bulbs really help too! Soft watt bulbs put off a yellow color, which can mess with how you see certain colors. See the before and after below!
2. Utilize all of the space! When Stephen and I lived in our first home, our closet was tiny! So we moved the upper rail up a little higher, and added a second rail, and floor to ceiling cubby holes. (Big enough to fit those canvas storage boxes).
3. Display your belongings. By displaying your bags and shoes you're literally doubling them as decor! Work it to your advantage! Use trays or books to help elevate your bags, shoes, sunglasses, and / or jewelry. I went for a clear acrylic tray seen above Don't! Don't forget to stuff your bags with paper or plastic so that they will hold their shape.
4. Use pretty storage bins or baskets to store seasonal items. In winter you can store your swimsuits, and when summer rolls around swamp them out for your scarves and gloves. This will also allow you to keep your dresser drawers a little neater!
5. By using hangers that are all one color, it seriously helps cut down on everything looking so chaotic! If we have colorful clothes AND multi colored hangers, it can be a little overwhelming to the eye. So opt for black, white, or beige colored hangers!
6. For my strappy heels, I use shoe shapers that I found on Amazon. They also have shapers for boots, but I've been using foam noodles (yes that you swim with!!😅) they are cheap and work like a dream! One day I may decide to upgrade, but I'm ok for now!!😂
That's all for today! If you haven't seen my Closet Makeover yet, I've linked it below, so be sure to go check it out!!
