Caribbean Travel Diary 🌴 Sandals Negril, Jamaica

Hey friends!!😃 We are home from our Jamaican vacay, and reality has kicked in!!😅 Like I mentioned last week, today's post will be a travel diary from our trip. I use to do these quite often, the Rona hit and messed up everything...🤦🏼‍♀️... Anyways, this is going to be a fairly long read so I tried my best to condense down as much as possible. Also, this is going to be very heavy with pictures 📸 & food!🤤

Monday, March 22, 2021
Our first flight left out of Houston, which was fine because Stephens brother lives there. We drove in the day bafore so that we could meet up with him and his wifey, (Jon & Rachael). They took us to a place called Mak's Bar & Grill for dinner. We ate, we drank, we laughed, we had fun!!

Tuesday, March 23, 2021
Our flight didn't leave til 7 p.m. so we had several hours to kill around Houston til it was time to head to the airport. We started our day with the usual Starbucks;  Hot Carmel Macchiato and a Cheddar Sausage Sandwich!🤤 Stephen needed some new dress pants, so we ended up at Kohls. Went to the dollar store next door to grab snacks for the trip. Had lunch at Chuy's!!🤤 We swung by Jon & Rachael's place for a little while before our flight. Then there's the airport, the luggage, the security,... oh you know the thing! 😂 

Our flight to Jamaica was somewhat of a nightmare, I mean it could be worse, but it wasn't fun. So we had ticket vouchers with United, from a trip that we were supposed to take last year... but then Rona hit... SO it was like, we either use them, or we'll loose them kinda thing. With that being said, there was no direct flight to Jamaica, for the time frame that we needed, (kids' spring break). We ended up with a connected flight there and back. ✈ We went from Houston, TX to Newark, New Jersey, WITH A 7 HOUR LAYOVER..🤦🏼‍♀️...

FYI from midnight to 7 a.m. it's almost completely empty in an airport. And trying to get any kind of sleep was dang near impossible. We found a booth in the back of a closed restaurant to try and get some rest, but I kept waking up thinking someone would find us in there... I felt like a Rebel!!😅 


We finally made it to Montego Bay 🇯🇲 around 10:30ish... When we booked our room and flights, our travel agent recommended that we sign up for Club MoBay, and I'm really glad we did! When we got off the plane we had a nice lady waiting on us to land. She walked us through the process of getting our luggage, all the way to the Sandal's lounge, where we hung out til our transportation arrived. 

Since we were going to Negril, we had an hour and a half drive. And to tell you that I was shocked at the surroundings, would be an understatement, I was completely blown away! They don't show you that side of Jamaica in advertising.

We made it to the Sandal's resort, with Michael Scott's recommendation, around 1p.m. We were exhausted & hungry. Since our room wasn't ready, we were escorted to the Bayside Cafe for lunch. I ordered the Jerk Chicken, and Stephen got the Oxtail. They were both really good!! 

By time we finished up with lunch our butler met us at the Cafe and walked us to our room. Along the way she gave us a tour of where most everything was located on the resort. Our room was the very last room at the far end, so we saw a lot on our way through. 
After our butler gave us the rundown on everything, we changed into our swimsuits real quick,👙🩳 and hit the beach!! We walked down to the other end of the resort just checking things out; met several staffers, a few passer-bys, and a local herb farmer!🪴

For dinner our butler set up a 7 o"clock reservation at the Kimono Hibachi Grill, so we only had about 2 hours to hangout at the beach. This place was so good! They did the normal rice and veg, WITH all the meats; chicken, steak, shrimp, & Mahi Mahi!!🤤 Like most hibachi places we were sat with other couples. Little did we know that we would actually hit it off with people!!😃 For those who may not know, I'm somewhat loud and don't really care what people think about me. Turns out our new friend Andy is the male version of me, if you can imagine that!!😂😂  The food was delicious and the company was fun!!

The first morning there, we woke up to a light breakfast with a hot pot of coffee sitting on our patio!😍 I was like, oh I could get use to this for sure!!

After our 2nd cup of coffee we went back down to the Bayside Cafe for a real breakfast. I had steak & eggs and Stephen had an omelet! We actually had the same things every morning that we were there.

After breakfast we went to the beach. Then scheduled a couples massage, that was SO GOOD!!!!👳🏼‍♀️👳🏻

For dinner we had reservations at Cucina Romona, where they offer Italian cuisine. Since our stay was all-inclusive, I really wanted to try the salmon AND the chicken Alfredo, so I ordered both! And they were both amazing! This is the point where I'm kicking myself for not writing this as soon as it happened, because I cannot remember exactly what Stephen had...🤦🏼‍♀️... It was shrimp something!! 😂
Every night the Entertainment Team had something going on, we missed the first night because we were so tired after dinner. However, we made sure to make the 2nd nights event. Which was a Beach Party! It was so fun; they taught us like 10 different "Jamaican style" dance moves, then picked 4 guys to get up in front and try to re-teach what they already taught us!😅 Hilarious!! Unfortunately I failed to get pics of that, but I did share some video clips on my IG Stories.

This morning we had breakfast at 👣Barefoot By The Sea. Like I mentioned earlier we had the same breakfast every morning. ☕🥩🍳 We also had a little friend join us, and we had to really watch our food because this guy was quick!!😂

We relaxed on the beach for the afternoon.  (Except when we had to get our travel covid test). Our butler asked what we wanted for lunch, and we really didn't know, so asked him what he recommends. He then says, "I'll make it a surprise!" I was like, YES!! 😂 So after a little time passed, he brought us 4 different entries, from 4 different restaurants!🤤 It was all delicious! If yall ever go to Jamaica, you have to try the Jerk Chicken!!👍🏻👌🏻🙌🏻

For dinner we made plans to eat with our new friends Ashley & Andy at Sundowner, where they served French cuisine. We tried several new type food like, Mutton, Marlin, and I think Striker?... Is that a fish?.. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I could have just made that up!...😅 I have to say I was not a fan of the Mutton... aka Goat..🐐 However, I did enjoy the Mahi Mahi! And we had a good time with our new friends!!

We knew that this would be our last full day at the resort so we planned to spend the day at the beach and in the water. We also went snorkeling, which I DID NOT LIKE.... I felt more comfortable having just the goggles and holding my breath, than trying to use the snorkel.🤿 Funny story though; our friends had went before us, and when they got back Ashley said, "be sure to ask for the Vaseline, it really helps." So I was like cool! When we got out to the water, Stephen asked for it and the man held it out for him to grab a little bit. So I reached over and grabbed some too! 😂 YALL that man looked at me like I had LOST MY MIND!!🤣 Still completely clueless at this point. Then he asked me, "do you have a mustache?"... Then it hit me, Ashley was telling Stephen SPECIFICALLY to ask for the Vaseline, because he has facial hair!!😂😂😂 Wheww!!! I about died laughing so hard!!! I'm still laughing about that!! 


Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures of the snorkeling adventure..😩 But we did schedule a photo shoot with one of the on-site photographers. We took LOADS of pictures, but we narrowed it down to just these 4 below!!
The Razorbacks played Oral Robert's that night, which they won!), Iso we ordered room service. We also packed during the game since we would be heading out the next morning. After the game, we went down to the White Party, (where everyone wore white!). It was so fun. Everyone got a headphone set. Each set had 3 different "stations" that coincide with 3 different colors. Red, Green, & Blue. So if yours was set to red, then everyone with red was listening to the same thing. And the same went for the green & blue. At first it sounded kinda dumb, but then it turned out to be awesome!!

Our Anniversary!! Since we were to leave that morning, we went ahead and scheduled a huge breakfast for our butler to bring at 8a.m. And she did not disappoint!! 🙌🏻  She set us up with everything we asked for and some!


Before we left we had to stop in and say bye to our friends on the Entertainment Team! These guys were so fun to hangout with, definitely the coolest cats on the island! We didn't get a pic with everyone, because they were off that day.
Then we were off, with that hour and a half drive back to Montego Bay. Once we got through security at the airport, which was pretty quick since we paid for Club MoBay, we made our way to the Club MoBay VIP lounge!! This was so cool, it was definitely worth the $100!!🤑

Then our flights home started... Yes, flightS... like before it was a connected flight from Montego Bay to Chicago to Houston. Thankfully, there was only a 1 hour layover instead of 7 hours!

And here's where we're stopping!! 😅 This was A LOT!! But I do hope you enjoyed hearing about our trip! See yall next week!!
