Mini Beach Vacay ⛱️ Travel Diary

I can't believe that we're officially in the Fall season. Like.. tomorrow is OCTOBER..😱 I guess selling a house, relocating to a different state, and buying a new house will make your summer fly by. At least we were able to squeeze in 1 last beach vacation before we said farewell to Summer. A couple weeks ago the fam and I took a mini beach vacay, in Daytona Beach, FL, and today's post will be a Travel Diary!

Since we live 30 - 45 minutes from the ocean, we knew were going to stay for a night, as opposed to a whole week. We just wanted to wake up with the ocean merely steps from our room.

Stephen & I packed up a backpack, our beach chairs, and an ice chest with drinks & snacks for the kids. I went and checked our kiddos out of school, and we made our way to Daytona Beach, (approximately an hour and a half drive). Our plan was to spend the whole afternoon at the beach, and that's exactly what we did. 

For dinner we went to Riptide's, and it did not disappoint. If you'll remember, we came here back in March while we were here for Spring Break. (Check that out here.) This time they had discontinued the gator bites...😭 so we opted for the calamari! I went to my safe dinner option; salmon with a baked potato, and roasted veg!🤤 Stephen went with the Philly. Gavin got his go-to, a burger, and the girls had mac-n-cheese! (I did not get a pic of theirs..😩)

The next day, Friday, I knew we had to get us a most delicious omelet from the Beachside Cafe and Donuts! EllyKay went with Stephen to pick up the order, and came back with a donut that had oreos on it! I tried it, and it was disgusting!🤢😂 I give them props for creativity though!! 

Check-out was at 10, so we had to quickly clean up or mess from breakfast AND the crazy mess that 2 little girls made...😱🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ After we got everything loaded up in the truck, we made our way to the beach, where we planned to ⛱️ sit for the rest of the day.

For lunch, we ordered bacon cheeseburgers 🍔 from the Beachside Cafe. Out of the 10 years that we've been vacationing here, we had never tried their lunch menu. When I tell y'all the best cheeseburgers are from the little hole in the wall places... I'm not lying. And this was that!😅 And they piled on the bacon too..🤤 

There was a storm rolling in around 5, so we decided to go ahead pack up our chairs and hit the road. We made it home in time to catch a beautiful pink sky sunset!! 

It wasn't a full on vacation, but it was still nice to get out of the house for a bit!
