Things To Do With Your Kids Over 🎄 Christmas Break

Good Morning!! 😃 Like us, I'm sure everyone else's kids' are going to be out of school for the next 2 weeks for the Christmas break. We all know that staying connected during the holidays, as a family, has proven to be quite difficult. And just because school is out, we're still busy if not more busy during this time of the year. We still have parties, church / school programs, family traditions, and that's on top of your normal daily life.


That's why I wanted to share a few ideas that might help you connect with your kiddos during this holiday season! It will also keep them from saying "I'm soooo bored....😩"...

Play games.

A lot is going on right now, but playing games with your kids is a great way to connect. Mom or Dad, let’s be honest: We can sometimes see this as an inconvenience. Most games go by pretty quick, and your kids will appreciate the time you spend together. So break out the cards or board games, and let them win a little... unless your playing Monopoly with Stephen...😅 He will crush you then then make fun of you!!😂


Include them in the holiday prep.

If your family is like mine, you more than likely have been going in different directions. That’s a lot for kids to take in. And they just want to be helpful. My girls especially love to help with baking and wrapping presents. If you’re hosting a party, they can help get the house and food ready.


Watch holiday movies.

Grab some popcorn, turn off the electronics and watch a few of your favorite holiday classics. Maybe let each member of the family choose a favorite. Or, what we normally do is write which movie we want to watch on a piece of paper and put them in a bowl. Then you can randomly select and enjoy them together (without fighting over who goes first). 


Try hot beverages together and teach them how to make their favorite.

You know what’s good on a cold day? Hot Cocoa! Introduce your kids to a few different flavors and make them together. All 3 of my kiddos love to make hot chocolate. We like to add fun toppings with mini marshmallows and crushed candy canes. Get creative and help them discover what they like.


Set aside time to check in on them.

Listening can help you connect deeply with your kids. The holidays are hectic for everyone. Rushing from work parties to social parties to school events can be exhausting. Your kids feel it too. So set aside some time to talk and see how they’re doing. 


Make something special for others.

This is something that we really have never done, so maybe this year will be the first! I actually got this idea from a social media friend; and that's baking cookies for their neighbors AND for the First Responders in their town... I was like wow, that is so cool! I'm really gonna try to do this over the break this year!


Take a family day.

Since we're out for 2 weeks, be sure to take a day for just your family. Make it an adventure and let the kids help plan it. This year we're planning on going down to St. Augustine to see the Christmas lights! We're really looking forward to it too!

The greatest gift I can give my kids is my time. As long as they’re not fighting, we love creating memories together. They may not remember the presents you gave them, but they will definitely remember what happened and how it made them feel!
