Moving Forward // Life Update
Good Morning Fam!! Wow what a trip this has been!! We are so beyond excited about this little treasure that we found tucked away in the hills of Hot Springs! That's right y'all, if you follow me on social media, (and you totally should!😉) you would have seen that Stephen and I bought a house yesterday!! And today I wanted to share some of our experience and a few pics of the property!🏡
While we were waiting for our Florida home to close, our realtor there 👩🏻🦰 Michelle Lally set us up with a realtor here 👩🏻🦰 Chastity Bastien . So we have been in this process for about 3 months now. We knew going into this search, that we wanted a home either with a pool or on Lake Hamilton. Since that was numero uno on our list, it was quite a challenge. We even ended up looking in nearby towns. After looking at house after house, and with our 2 month short-term rental lease closing in on us, I started being the pissy brat that I am 🙄... Then one evening I got a text from Stephen, "needs some work, but has tons of potential" and a link for a house that had JUST went into foreclosure 😳 It had the space we needed, it had the pool we wanted, and the price was right on the money!!🤑
We loaded up the party and made our way to this diamond in the rough 😍 I can't even explain to you how beautiful the front of this home is, the pictures don't do it justice. However, when i walked through the front door it's like I was in a confused time warp. There were 6 different styles of tile flooring, brass chandeliers, and fuzzy wallpaper...🤦🏼♀️ and it needed a massive cleanup.
At that time we weren't sure what year it was built, but as soon as I saw the monstrosity in the living room, that being an entire brick wall fireplace, I knew it had to have been built in the 70's.
Other than the butterfly wallpaper in the kitchen, it wasn't a complete disaster. It has white cabinets and newer appliances.
The master suite was huge! There were His and Her walk in closets and a fairly large bathroom. I was blown away with how big the pink jacuzzi tub was... yes, PINK marble jacuzzi tub! 😂 I'm not sure if I love it, but I do think it might grow on me!! 💕
From the get go, Lillian had been saying how she wanted her own room. We told her the only way that would happen is if the home had 4 bedrooms WITH a home office. Guess what? The house had 4 bedrooms with an office! And a very nice one at that, minus the wallpaper!! It has built-in bookshelves and an ensuite.
On top of this house having EVERYTHING that we wanted in a home, there was also a game room!! The first thing out of Stephen's mouth was, "woo boy, I can see a pool table riiiight over there, with 2 TVs on the wall!" 😂😂😂
This house was in immaculate condition and oozing with potential and we wanted it. Per our usual with these same day listings, we put in an offer before we left the property. The next morning the bank accepted 😀 and we were set to close in 3 weeks! Time seemed to slow down with anticipation growing. 🕛🕒🕕🕘
For the past three weeks all i could think about was this house, and what I wanted to change. Now that we are actually here, I don't know where to start...😫 Do I start with painting the wainscoting and baseboards or ripping wallpaper off the walls? Or maybe I should start pulling weeds from the flower beds out front? I DON'T KNOW!!!
Y'all know that I love a good diy, so I am planning on blogging the whole transformation, maybe even try to vlog some of it. Just be prepared for a lot of "home content" from me! I hope y'all have enjoyed having a look at our new home!

P.S. The pool is in an absolute state at the moment, plus it has a cover on it, so I'm not going to show it just yet. We have scheduled for the pool guys to come on Monday to drain it and clean it. So y'all keep an eye out for that!!
