Key Items That You Need In Your Closet // Fashion
Hypothetical Question: if you were to build your closet from having absolutely nothing, what pieces would you choose to start with? And why? I'm not sure about y'all, but I have my answer and I've listed the items that I'd choose below!!
Good fitting dark denim with no distressing, and good fitting distressed denim. So I would need both, because let's face it, distressed denim is not appropriate for some places. 🤷🏼♀️ It is what it is.
Blazer! BLAZER!! Everyone needs a black blazer in their closet! I love mine, actually I've been through a couple at this point just because I haven't bit the bullet and just invested in a good one yet 🤦🏼♀️ but I digress... I would say that I wear my blazer just about as much as I wear my denim jacket, oh that's a good one too...🤔... Yeah, go ahead and add a denim jacket as well!!🤣 In all seriousness both the blazer and denim jacket can be dressed up or down. However, I do think the blazer does make the outfit look more chic.
Jewelry is not something that I would say you HAVE to have. However, it does boost your overall appearance and it turns your "clothes" into an outfit! Personally, I love how the dainty necklaces look. They're very minimal and it won't overpower your outfit, it just makes you look more put together. Plus it's super flattering on a woman, because it draws the eye to your collarbone and neckline.
A good neutral go-to hand bag. Not a statement bag, yes those are good too, but that's not what we're talking about today!! You would definitely need to keep in mind what you would be carrying with you, and how it will fit into your lifestyle. My all time favorite bag, my "go-to" bag is my backpack. It's great for moms who end up carrying things that only moms could understand.. 😳 If I were only able to choose one bag, it would be my backpack. It's not too big or too small, it's made of great quality, and it goes with everything that I've listed above!😉
And here's a bonus for you; have at least 1 designer something! It can be clothes, shoes, accessories, whatever you choose.
I personally don't go for Designer clothes because I wear and wear and wear my clothes, and then once they're worn out, I toss them. So I can't see spending extra money on clothing when I know that I'm gonna eventually get rid of it. So I opt for accessories, handbags, and shoes. I'm not saying that you have to go for the top tier designers. There are lower tier designers who make amazing products and are still just as widely known as the top. I started with contemporary designers like Michael Kors and Kate Spade. You can have an entire outfit from Tjmaxx or even Target, and by adding that one Designer piece, it makes your whole outfit look more expensive!
My "why" is for this reason, with anything in life you have to have a starting point, a good foundation, without a foundation you can't build much. What I've listed above are my bread and butter, my ride or dies. They are basic, but they're also timeless, classic, and will never go out of style. With these key items, you can mix and match to create a casual look or a more dressy look. Either way you will always be stylish wherever you go!
