How To Pull Yourself Out Of A Funk // Encouragement
One of the best parts about my job is that I have full creative control over everything. What I write, what I wear, how I do my makeup and hair, and just the overall vision of whatever project I'm working on at the time. However, that also comes with being the only person shooting out ideas, applying for campaigns, responding to emails, and making sure that I have what I need for said project. I have no boss, no one to answer to, no one to hold me accountable, only me!
In the age of social media where everyone leads a fabulous life, and nobody wants to admit when they're in a funk, a rut, or just having an off day. Well I'm here to tell you, suck it up buttercup, because it happens to everyone. I for one had to pull myself out of this terrible funk that I've been in over the past few months. I had never felt so uninspired in my entire life. And for a creative soul like myself, that wasn't a good place to be.
Aside from all of that, I wanted to share with yall, how i pulled myself out of this funk that i was in with Hope's of helping a sister out. First thing was actually recognizing that I was in a funk. So a couple weeks ago, I completely unplugged from my social media accounts because it wasn't inspiring me like it usually does. So I disconnected and spent 2 days with my family. We took our kids to the movie theater, we hangout at the pool, we ordered a pizza for an at home movie night, and it was so great just living in the moment! What I found was that I really needed that break. I needed to recharge and reboot and just be present.
Once you do realize that you're in it, feel it, own it, and conquer it! Stop trying to force yourself to not feel it. Don't get down on yourself about it. Put your big girl panties on and just get up and do something.
But for real though, on the daily get up! Brush your teeth, comb your hair, wash your face, drink some water, and then put on something that makes you feel amazing! Feeling good about yourself will leave you feeling more inspired. Lounging around all day in your pj's and whining about your feelings isn't going to help or change a thing.
Get organized! Take a deep breath and just start. This was a tough one for me. We've been living in our new home for a month now and I just started organizing all my beauty products. I had looked at it sitting in boxes in my bathroom floor for too long. Once I started putting my stuff away, I just got on a roll and didn't stop till I was finished.
Last but definitely not least, pray about! I've already written about giving your cares to God, so I'm going to repeat that I'll just link it here for you to go read. Seriously though, after you recognize the symptoms, pray about it!!
Being completely transparent here, I know that these are super easy tips, BUT THEY WORK! Trust me, I did these this morning, and I'm already moving forward with my day! Y'all, its life, it happens to everyone. Once you start it gets easier, then eventually you won't feel right until you do it. Somedays will run smooth and then there will be days where there are obstacles that we have to push through!
