Happiness vs. Joy
Oftentimes, I come across motivational type quotes or lists, and that's not necessarily a bad thing, but the other day I saw one and it really just kinda perked up my Spirit. It was a list of things for you to do, that will make you happy or happier in life.... like I said, NOT a bad thing at all, but then again not a God thing either. It's so important to discern whats Good and whats God! So I'm goin to share with you the worlds view of being "happy" and what the Word says in regards to them.

The world says, "get more sleep".
God says, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
"Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls."

The world says, "exercise".
God says, "Teach the older men to exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely. They must have sound faith and be filled with love and patience."

The world says, "Find meaning"
God says, Find me! "If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.
Jeremiah 29:13
The world says, "listen to yourself".
God says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn away from evil."
Proverbs 3:5-7
So ultimately what you're looking for is joy! Joy can only be given to you from the Father. Happiness will only last for a short while, then you're back to being unhappy. Happiness cannot get you through the tough times, but joy can. Joy is one of the fruits of the spirit, not happiness.
"But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Galatians 5:22-23
We, as a body of believers, should strive to produce the right fruits, like Joy!! I hope this has been encouraging for you. Thanks so much for being here!! 👋🏻
