Travel Diary: Daytona Beach, FL // Photo Dump

Hey y'all what's up!! I normally do a travel diary after every trip, but for today's post I'm going to do more of a photo dump. If you want more details you can check out my latest YouTube video here!!

Saturday We flew from Huntsville to DC; then from DC to Orlando. (I also wanted to point out that we were IN Washington DC on September 11, 2021... Not too many people can say that!!) Once we got to Orlando, we picked up our rental car. We made it to Daytona close to 4ish.. Went straight to the beach. We had Stavros for dinner. It was horrible...

Sunday I caught the sunrise from our balcony while sipping my coffee. We spent the whole day at the beach!! It was awesome! Stephen did make a quick trip to Publix to grab us some cheap chairs & the kids a boogy board. Lillian and I had so much fun with those! Until my mascara started running in my eyes... that wasn't fun at all..😱 I think we had sandwiches & chips for lunch. For dinner we went to a restaurant called Dustin's, I had a pulled pork sandwich and it was really good. (This was the day that Stephen got super burnt!!🦞😂)

(he's so funny!😅)

Monday I made it a point to watch the sunrise on the beach this morning, it was so beautiful, just perfection really. And there's no way that any picture would do it justice. EllyKay joined me. This was another beach day!🏖 For dinner we ate at the River Grill, I had 🦀 crab legs, they were delicious!!

Tuesday We spent the morning at the beach, but then went exploring around noon.🌞 We went to the Marine Science Center and learned all kinds of cool stuff about marine life. The kids got to hold a baby shark and pet the stingrays. Then we went around the corner to the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse, which was again, a very cool experience. We climbed all 203 steps to the top! We had lunch at Off The Hook, we had fried fish & shrimp. it was really good. After lunch we retreated back to the beach / pool. This night we ordered a pizza & calzones from Lenny's, WAAAYYYYY better than Stavros...  (the last pic in this section... There were these sailboats that I believe belonged to the people who lived next to the condo.. They made for a beautiful photo with the evening sky!)

Wednesday We already reserved plans for Wednesday night, so we spent the whole first half of the day at the beach, til around 3pm. We surprised the kiddos with a trip to the Midevil Times in Orlando. I had never been and was just as excited as the kids! (BTW, if you dont see Gavin in many pics, it's because he doesn't really like having his picture taken... 🤷🏼‍♀️)

Thursday The girls made me miss the sunrise this morning because they kept flip flopping on whether they wanted to go or not...🙄... We didn't really have any specific plans for this day, but I did tell Stephen that if we were going to "do" anything else while we were there, I'd rather do it on this day instead of on Friday. So we made a quick decision to load up and head to St. Augustine. We left right before lunch so we were pretty hungry by time we made it there. We ate at Harry's. I had the Mahi Mahi it was pretty good, not the best I've ever had though. Gavin had some kind of linguini pasta that was delicious! After lunch we walked down to the fort. We did a few reenactments with photos from years ago. Stephens parents met up with us, and we all walked down to the historic area. It started raining on us so we ducked into an ice cream shop where pappaw treated us to a cone!! Since it was raining, I was like, we need to go!!😅 I did find an umbrella in 1 of the shops, but it wasn't fun walking in the rain... For dinner Stephen picked us up some sub sandwiches from Publix. They were amazing!!

Friday We knew that Friday was going to be our last day, so we wanted to spend the whole day at the beach, and we did! Also, I didn't take many pics this day. For our last dinner we met up with Stephens parents at Martin's. We've been to this place multiple times over the years, and it's usually really good, but not this time. Gav & I shared a steak and shrimp meal, and the fried calamari & cheese sticks were better than the steak. There was zero flavor & it was over cooked.. so that was annoying.. I even passed some to my father inlaw for him to taste, same thing....

Saturday Saturday was full of traveling. We headed out for the airport around 8am. Went from Orlando to Houston; then Houston to Huntsville. Got home close to 5pm. It felt so good to sleep in my own bed!!😂

That's all for today! I hope yall enjoyed seeing our vacation pics!!
