How To: Ease Into Wearing Black & Brown // Fashion

Hey y'all, what's up?!!😃 Today's post will definitely not settle with a few people, and that's fine. HOWEVER, I'm going there anyway!! 😅 We are talking about mixing..... BLACK & BROWN.....😳..... I know, I know, but you gotta hear me out! First off, as adults, I think mentally we revert back to "when I was growing up" or "back in my day", for whatever the case may be. In this particular case I'm referring to a fashion rule from the early 2000's, which is not mixing black & brown whatsoever!! 🖤🤎🙅🏼‍♀️

We are all aware that fashion cycles around and around, constantly reinventing itself. But have you noticed that every time an older trend pops back up, it's been tweaked in one manner or another to make it better?! I really feel like that's the case here.

Like I had mentioned earlier, back in my high-school days, mixing the 2 neutrals was a fashion no-no! And for some cases I still stick with that rule, especially when it comes to the tones of brown. We're going to keep it short today, I just wanted to give you a few ideas of how you can tiptoe into this fuzzy area.

I'm going out on a limb here, but most of you probably already have your basic blacks right?!! Whether it's black denim, leggings, or slacks. AND you probably have a black top, bag, and shoes too. So you're covered in that area. Now it's time to bring in the brown, and this is way I love seperates so much, 🤗 it's so easy to mix and match to create new outfits!

For those who are on the fence, you can start by introducing different types of patterns that have brown in them. The easiest would probably be leopard print. You can still keep all of your accessories black, only having the brown from the print. Yes, leopard is more of a toned down brown, but remember we're getting you use to the idea first, we're taking baby steps here!👣

Once you get comfortable with that, you can bump it up to bolder prints or color blocking. In the pic below I'm wearing a color block sweater that already has the 2 colors together, again making it super wearable. I paired it with black denim and black booties. You could also wear this top with traditional blue denim, and brown boots!!

Don't forget about layering! In my first pic, my pants, top, bag, and belt are all black. By having the lighter brown tones in my oversized scarf, it was easier to pop on my brown boots. I do believe that if I had been wearing traditional blue denim, I wouldn't have been able to pull off the black top and brown boots. So you really have to play around with it to find what's a hit or miss!

That's all I have for you today. I really hope y'all enjoyed today's post! Are you a fan of mixing black & brown or not? (P.s. you can use my hashing #KrystalBlogs and I'll share your style on my stories!!😉) Thanks so much for being here, I'll see yall next Friday!!
